can you post a pic of the instructions leaflet that appears to be inside the box, so that it is possible to read what it says on it? Cheers, Torsten.

Nico was correct in that it is for the adjustment of weapons, but I think that it is meant for light and small calibre artillery weapons. Cheers, Torsten.

This device is used to check the correct alignment of machine guns in tanks etc, especially coaxially mounted MGs. But it would also apply to the likes of Shilka (ZSU 23-4 and other systems were the MG itself can be removed from the mount.
I own a similar device but for a different weapon (mine is much longer) and seems to be for a KPWT (14.5mm heavy machine gun as used in the BRDM-2 and BTR-60/70/80).
I used a similar device and I assume the process is the same in general for all similar systems.
Due to my service I'll describe how it was used on a tank. For the purist I need to add the we did this with the target at 500 metres.

First the correct alignment of the day/night gunners sight with the main gun is checked and adjusted. This is always the starting point.
Once that is achieved and a specific number of hits are achieved within a specific area the coax MG alignment is checked.
The distance in the gunners sight is first set to "0". Then the alignment check tool is inserted into the barrel (from the front, i.e. outside - hance the little warning flag). The person outside looks through the optics and checks how far the crosshairs are off the target mark (tip of a triangle) on the target screen. Another guy in the tank is now adjusting the mount of the coax MG. The mount can be moved up/down and left/right. This is a bit of a fiddely job and requires some patience and careful handling of spanners.
When the alignment seems to be correct the tool is removed and once the 'all clear' is given, the gunner sets the distance in the sight to 500m and fires a number of short bursts. depending on the result, the process may have to be repeated until a specified number of hits are within the target area.

I hope that explanation helps a little. Any questions, please ask and I'll try to answer if I can
