Nice Schirmmütze! I've been looking for one of these but they are hard (too expensive) to get or just available in size 53/54. The jacket for meisters is also hard to get. I have never understood this because officer jackets and hats are far more easy to get. I reckon there must have been more meisters than officers?

I had been looking for one for ages too ! I only had a later one (with the metal cocade). I was VERY lucky to get this one very recently for a very cheap price ! And the good surprise was the 1963 dated cover and the PERFEKT VEB markings...
As for the Meister tunics are concerned, I think the base is EXACTLY the same as that of officiers ! I caught one a couple of years ago, and as far as I remember, it was identical apart from the insignia... unless I had a too quick inspection... I just remember the sleeve lining was different from all my officiers tunics : in the Meister one the lining was plain blue... but I would not draw any conclusions before having more comparisons !!!Comment

As far as I know it's indeed the same jacket but I am not certain as well. I find it strange that most meister items are hard or expensive to obtain compared to the officers' items. I didn't know that the later version of the meister schirmmütze has a metal cocarde. I have only seen meister hats on ebay with a partial metal and cloth cocarde. Do you know in what year the cocarde changed?Comment
