Time to show my humble collection

Have been doing the DDR for quite a few years, this is so far what I got.
Nothing real good, all mid-late items.
Although this is very common and not really worth to mention in this forum of international DDR collectors, but I guess I'm in the No. 1 place among Chinese DDR collectors (only a handful). LOL.

Hello Frank - I like your comment that you are number 1 among the Chinese collectors. You should invite your other collector friends to the forum.

You are doing well for such a small collection. Thanks for taking the time to post your collection.

I clearly see Grenz and NVA generals' hats, and what are apparently Grenz and NVA generals' tunics in the midst of all that hanging... Pray tell, what is humble about THAT?

Your "humble" collection makes mine look downright pitiful. Good stuff!

If my sizes (sg56,60) had not been that hard to find, I'd have doubled or maybe tripled the uniform part of my collection.
There are about 10 Chinese collectors exclusively collecting the DDR and a few newbies, but most of them can only communicate in Chinese. I'll invite them, at least they can post their collection and view images here.

Thanks Frank...plus you might be able to assist them and us with questions they have and what we may have in the future.

As someone whose ideal hat size is a 62 (though I can sometimes stuff my cranium into a generous 60, especially after a haircut) I certainly sympathize. With all the cheap and plentiful 54's and 55's floating about, it would certainly simplify my DDR collecting if I were a pinhead... though in that case I suppose I'd be collecting TR!

(OK, OK, apologies to any and all TR collectors reading, I'm just kidding, I simply could not resist... )

If I only concentrated on stuff that fit me, my collection would be pretty small.
I've never had the need to wear any of this, save for a few halloween parties.
I guess that is one way to keep things under control...cuz i'm starting to run out of room.

Congrats Frank! Collection looks great! I've been avoiding posting pics of mine because of its extrememly diminutive size (my collection that is). Although, I do try to stick to items my size, g44/g48-0 -- yea, i'm a skinny guy

                      Keep up the good work!

I think it's exactly that for me, a culling tool-- until one gets into the rarified strata of early pieces and such rarities as generals' uniforms and the like, there are two factors I find to be at work with DDR uniforms:

                          1) As you emerge from the 1960's, and if you're not particular about size, the vast majority of uniforms from almost every military and state agency are readily attainable-- yes, there are the odd pieces that are difficult to find, but by and large most of the stuff is common and reasonably priced.

                          2) One actually CAN build a collection in his (or, I guess, her) size, even if the size is an odd one-- while some sizes are much harder to find (such as a 63 hat or a sg60 tunic) such pieces do exist, and in at least enough quantity that one can reasonably expect one to turn up, some day, at least for most branches or agencies. Woe to the TR or Imperial collector who wishes to fit into his pieces... if he ain't tiny, his collection will be.

Of course the prospect of wearing what you collecting is fun, although I don't (hardly ever ) put any of them on, and I doubt there will be enough Halloween parties in my life to get through what I have already. But trying to find not just a particular piece, but that piece in a particular size, adds immeasurably to the fun of the chase... rather like an African game hunter going after a large herd of gazelles: He could shoot at them without aiming and take one down, but of course getting into position to have a clean shot at the one he wants is the sport of it.

Yes,Franksoon is the No.1 in the Chinese DDR collectors!

When I begin my collection in 2004,Franksoon was a professional DDR and NVA researcher already.

He's an administrator of a military forum--SONICBBS--ONE OF THE BIGGEST MILITARY FORUM IN CHINA.In this forum, the first group of DDR collectors in China grows up.

I will put on some pics about China military uniforms show, includes some DDR NVA actors, and some of my poor collectings,if someone want to see them.

Come on, I'm nothing "professional", not in this world's top collector's forum.
Yup, go ahead post some pics of our parities.
