    Some of my Blumentarn

Hi Guys, I am finally back from my 15 month Iraq deployment and now am able to play with all my new purchases. As all of my pre-deployment collection is in storage, I pieced together a small display of some of the Blumentarn items I received over the past year. I was lucky to buy a 58' model blumentarn (which is hanging in the back) with metal buttons. Also a couple other early suits without holes for shoulder boards.

Thought you guys would like to see.
(the AK is a dummy replica, by the way)

Very nice I must say! You have done really well! I presume you did not find these by the roadside in Baghdad But even if you did, that would not persuade me to takke a trip down there

    I have some questions:

    1. the dummy on the left: Is it a genuine Drillichuniform lurking underneath? That would be worth showing on its own
    2. That AK sling looks too much like an AK74 one. Is that what it is? If it is indeed that, I would say that it spoils the effect. I would suggest removing it as you don't really need it in any case.
    3. the rucksack: are those Mantelriemen for attaching the Zeltbahn genuine NVA ones in leather? How are they marked?
    4. The dummy at the back: you say that it has metal buttons. Are they like the silver ones painted in dull grey?

    Great collection in any case!

        Paul,

Welcome back. I sincerely hope that is the last tour for you. I understand that was tour Number 3. Far more sacrifice for country than is required. You have my deepest respect.

Great collection you put together while deployed.
The Blumentarn collection is excellent, but the Drillich Tunics are my absolute favorite.

Maybe Nico can hook you up with the necessary collar and shoulder tabs needed to complete the ensemble.

        Again, welcome back.

          Paul,

Nice to see the painted metal buttons. I have a MdI marked blumentarn jacke that also has what appear to be original sewn-on metal buttons. The buttons are sewn with the same brown thread as yours.

Thanks guys, I have been lucky to get what I did. The uniforms will go good with the other blumentarn items I already have (well whenever I get to pull them out of storage ).
