    Help with uniform sizing Thanks

    Could some one tell me what the differance between a M-56 and G-56 would be? 20 some years ago a G-48-1 was a perfect fit for me but now I need a larger size. My waist size now is a 36 inch, no ideal on my chest (if I put my old G-48-1 on I have about a 2.5 inch gap in my chest area.

    I think a 56 will fit but I just need to know.

    Probolby wanna do a 52-1 on your trousers/ breeches back form when I was that size... i too have put on some poundage

      LOL seem to be the unstopable thing with old age I cant even get my old Dress Greens from my Army Days over my shoulders now

      But what is the differance between the lettering part? G or M ?

        The letter prefix is the height whereas the numbers describe the chest or waist size)

        So
        SK = Sehr Kurz =very short
        K = Kurz = short
        M = Mittel = average height
        G = Groß = tall
        SG = Sehr Groß = very tall
        UG = Ueber Groß = monstruously tall

        There is also a number suffix that slims or fattens the basic fit...
        So for example

        SG48-0 or SG52-0 is basically a swimmer with narrower or wider shoulders respectively

          Thanks for the sizes now I'm 5 foot 10 inches so that would make it a M for the best fit correct?

            A G would also work. If you were wearing a G48-1, you are unlikely to have changed much height-wise so if the sleeves were once right etc. I would stick to G. In practice the difference between contiguous prefixes is not enormous: I can wear G and SG in most cases.

              Genosse Ianima is right about this. I fit best with an M but I can also get away with K or G. not so much SG or SK though

                I can't figure out what I need . . . I have a g48-0 that fits like it was tailor made except for when I raise my arms--then it gets tight in the armpit area. Another tunic I have is a g48 and it fits better in the armpits but is big around the waist. I also have a g44 that fits almost EXACTLY like the g48-0.

                So I need something in between a g48-0 and a g48 . . . perhaps a g48-0.05

                Well, at least I'm pretty sure that the prefix 'g' is correct for my size.

                What about pants? I'm 5' 10" and my waist is 32"-33." I tried on a pair of g48-0 pants and couldn't get them buttoned-needed about another 2" of material. Would perhaps a regular g48 be a 32-33?

                  Thanks you iannima, no my height hasn't changed just my cheast and waist, as my Mom still loves to tease me, "I've gone from a 6 pack to a Kegger". LOL

                    You appear to be of exactly the same size as I am. The G48-0 tunics I have are used in the "lean" months of the year when I feel that my weight has gone slightly down... But are best left alone during the winter The G48-0 trousers were always too tight as the waist measurement is around 76 cm. and in the "lean" months my waistline might be 78-79 cm. G48 trousers tend to have a waist measurement of 82-84 cm. which is more than your (and my ) 32 inches (= 80 cm.). The solution, or at least what I do , is to acquire a sewing machine and slim down trousers and most importantly jacket. For the trousers, often wearing the braces does the trick and I rarely bother adjusting them now. I own a pair of Stiefelhose in SG48-0 that are only worn when it is really hot without the braces, in shirts sleeve order of dress which I don't like that much. I had to remove the D rings as they were too painful.
                    I have slimmed down the jackets so many times now, that unless I tell you that I have intervened, you would not be able to see that I have... I did a similar thing for Genosse Rob and he was impressed . If you have access to a sewing machine and someone who knows how to use, I can get technical and explain what is needed.
