    Unknown East German Police Chervons

Does anyone know what these chervons are for? I know they are police.

They are long service stripes (Dienstalterswinkel). Five years of service for each stripe and they were worn on the lower sleeve above the left cuff.

They come on green or blue fabric and can be woven as groups or sewn as single Laces on the Background.

Are the service stripes only for enlisted or can officers also wear them?

I have only seen them with 1, 2, 3, and 4 stripes. Do they come in 25, 30 or 35 years or is it a 4 stripe maximum?

Per Chevron 5 Years of Service, with 4 as a max. worn by all Wachtmeisterdienstgrade so only by Enlisted Ranks.

Why are there differant widths? The above linked photos are all narrow width (same width as collar tresse) and there are also wider or fatter stripes. Does it have to do with issue dates like when they changed over the rank structure?

question about BePo collar tresse for NCOs. I understand that they could wear collar tresse but did all NCOs have to wear it, was it an option, or have something to do with working with the NVA?

I wanted to attach rank to a used jacket that has bright green textile collar insignia. At first I thought a lower rank, but it has wear marks evidence that it once had a 2 row ribbon bar attached for some time.

When did the VOPO change from textilecollar insignia to metal?

                Thanks

Small ones are for the Time, the wide ones are for Unterführer auf Zeit for 1 and Berufsunterführer for 2 Chevrons
Small ones were worn on the left and wide ones on the right lower Sleeve.
