sold for 303 Euro - Admiral General Uniform NVA Seestreitkräfte

Well, I didn't bid on this ebay one that ended today. I'd need to see better pictures for one thing & that ribbon bar is not for a three star admiral. Anyone else see this one go for 303 EURO?

Yep, I did see this one, at a glance it looks OK, but, once you look a little closer alarms go off!!.. I would not want this one in my collection.

Hard to say without seeing it up close. There are not enough pictures in the auction and there are no close ups. It helps alot if you have seen them in person or can compare to good photographs. Is it custom tailored? Does it have size tags inside? Is it a higher quality jacket or a normal officers with general officers buttons etc. added? Is the academy badge real? Is the hole for the badge done by a tailor or just poked through? Without clear, close pictures, the best indication that this was put together is the ribbon bar. A three star admiral would really have a rack. One last thought, there were very few of these admirals in the DDR. Given the pictures and the ribbon bar, what do you think the odds are that this is the real deal? Of course, if in hand it is the real deal, it's a long shot that pays off well.

To me the alarm starts with the Academy Badge. An Admiral who wasn't at Woroshilow? There you need the golden Badge.
An Admiral with this Ribbon Bar? All I saw at real ones had Tailored Bars with real Ribbons, only the Plastic/Paper ones on the Shirt.
To me it's a made up, tailored Officers Uniform.

It's a put together uniform. Admiral is an extremely rare rank in the Volksmarine since the position of Stellvertreter des Ministers und Chef Volksmarine was held by Konteradmirals and Vizeadmirals (see below). The only person that I can think of that held this rank was Admiral Theodor Hoffmann Minister für Nationale Verteidigung, 18 Nov 1989-18 Apr 1990. And he would have converted his uniform in 1990 to eliminate most of the DDR symbols.

Konteradmiral Felix Scheffler (1 Mar 1956-31 Dec 1956)
Vizeadmiral Waldemar Verner (1 Jan 1957-31 Jul 1959)
Konteradmiral Wilhelm Ehm (1 Aug 1959-31 July 1961)
Konteradmiral Heinz Neukirchen (1 Aug 1961-24 Feb 1963)
Konteradmiral Wilhelm Ehm (25 Feb 1963-30 Nov 1987)
Vizeadmiral Theodor Hoffmann (1 Dec 1987-17 Nov 1989)
Vizeadmiral Hendrik Born (11 Dec 1989-2 Oct 1990)

It can't be Hoffmann, as my ex-wife got everything from him as his wife wnt crazy and told him "You or your Uniforms" so she bought everything from him while at his home for a coffee. I also had all his stuff in my Hands and my rememrance tells me someting other as this as his Uniform.
I bet it's a made up officer. Who was the seller ? maybe we know him for Basement working.
