I have recently made a little model of an SPW 40 P2 otherwise known as BRDM 2... (I know it is not very good 
... but it keeps me amused)
so when I recently came across an Aufklärer patch that so obviously represented this vehicle (admittedly much more its predecessor) with the extra wheels in the middle, I could not resist... The asking price was a truly nugatory sum...
But having got it in my hands I started asking myself some questions. This presumably would have gone on a parade/Ausgang uniform but which one would have been the appropriate Waffenfarbe? Presumably several regiments of several branches of service of the Landstreikräfte would have needed some reconassaince. I consulted the obvious suspect of Kopenhagen's Die Landstreikräfte der NVA but could not find an answer. So is it the case that it could go on a uniform with several possible Waffenfarbe, e.g. White, Red, Pink, even Black? (I presume not Yellow and not Dark Green) Or was it the case that a Reconaissance Batallion was classed as Panzer any way and therefore only Pink would do?
