    Panzer crash helmet.

    Would anyone be able to post a picture of an early post war panzer crash helmet?

    Black oil skin lining, vent holes etc????

    I'm not personally familiar with DDR Armour Crew Member headgear that had vent holes.

    What you have described does not really sound like anything worn by East German Armour Crew Members. The East German Army came into full swing in 56 and were by that time wearing the typical soviet style headgear that was comprised of the cushioned ribs on the outside. Its predecessor - the KVP wore similar albeit less elaborate headgear to that for the later East German Army. The DDR headgear was a copy of the type worn by Soviet Armour Crew Members. Some were produced of black in color leather and some of a gray color fabric. Dependent on time of year, they had additional padding/lining inside to protect against the cold.
