    Unknown visor cap

    Hello,
I recently posted a few photos of a visor cap that I was not familiar with. Thanks to a number of well informed members, I found out that this visor was a post WW2 DDR fireman's cap. The hat did not have any emblems or markings when I received it. I just happened upon a DDR fireman's emblem, and was hoping that it would be correct for my hat? Please let me know what you think.

That is NOT East German! That is West German Feuerwehr cap badge for Bundesland of Baden-Württemberg. East German is bullseye kokarde with oak leaf wreath, although colours are arranged opposite of normal for DDR (note these not West German).

This dealer is not cheap but often only place you can get rare German insignia:

          Hello,
Thank you very much for the information. I will try to get in touch with the dealer you have listed. Do you have another possible dealer, if this one does not have the correct emblem?

This dealer has them in stock - the photo is from his website. For some reason my link does not open on page where these were for sale. Check "Schrittweise Auswahl" on side bar, then you want "neuheiten und älteren Artikel," then "DDR: Feuerwehr" and "Effekten: Mützenabzeichen, Mützenkränze" and click "anzeigen." They are first ones in list. You add them to basket (in den Warenkorb) then check out like any other website. I believe there is also English language version of website but it often makes little sense...

            regards
            Klaus
