    Karl Marx University badge question...

Hello all - I have a question about this Karl-Marx badge. How long was this badge awarded?

    Thanks for any assistance.

I don't know but I suspect that this was an award given to very good students at the KMU? Not seen it before, but an old girlfriend of mine studied at the KMU and I see if she knows. Cheers, Torsten.

Hi Ralph, she has not seen this badge before. It would have been issued before her time at the KMU. Cheers, Torsten.

Hey Torsten - Thanks for the follow up. What time period was she at KMU?

                Ralph,

Perhaps you could post a picture of the back of this badge. The type of pin could help to give a possible time frame for the badge. Or at least, when this particular badge was made.

                Regards,

                Gordon

Hey Gordon - Here you go. I have been thinking for a while now that this badge is an older badge.

                      Ralph,

While there is no definitive way to date this type of pin fastener, those with the metal plate to hold the pin onto the badge appear to date from the seventies. Probably no later then the mid seventies when everything was modified to save money. This is just my personal observation.

                      Regards,

                      Gordon
