    Black NCO/Soldat mapcase?

I have came cross this black NCO/Soldat mapcase today at a close local militaria fair. The seller states that it is from the same soldier with other Blumentarn items visible at background. However, i did not find any sort of markings visible inside the mapcase.I used my mobile to take the photo.
Can anyone tell me is this possible?Or is this the mapcase for NVA NCO in the late 50's?

I think it's a later sample, the ones I know from the 50's are made from Pigskin, but everything is possible.

I'm not sure it is of nay help but they were used in the 80ies (I had one from 87- 89, inherited from a leaving short term NCO). At least the strap looks relatively modern to me, and a bit too "new",

It is quite new.The inside looks unused condition.
The outer surface looks bit older.

I am not familiar with leather material, but personally i would say it is real leather.

if it is the same I used to have and the one I got later (2003) from a colleague, it is nice, thick leather; smells really nice, after all those years.
Especially in winter the leather map cases were much better to handle as the plastic ones got really stiff if temperatures dropped below -10C, and difficult to handle.
