Normally a 44 is worth a LOT less than any other bigger size...
Either someone is VERY good at selling things, or someone else does not know what he/she is buying...

Gentlemen, pricing in this case is a matter of customer/clients to which you market the goods. If this jacket is sold to a collector of DDR or east bloc items, he would most likely pay 20 USD at most. If you sell it to some teenager who wants a cool jacket, you can sell it at 40 USD. Sell it to someone who wants to dress up his girlfriend in the bedroom for some kinky time, you can ask 80 USD.
They will pay and enjoy it - I have met all these kind of clients.Comment

Recently, in another thread, someone had bought or was contemplating the purchase of ribbon bars, without provenance, supposedly belonging to Minister Dickle. This individual kept asking how much this item would be worth. The answer is: whatever someone is willing to pay is how much it's worth. Unless the item has value based on what it's made of- say, an Order of Lenin or Marx which are made of gold, or one of dozens of orders made of silver- then you're holding an item whose value is based solely on what it is historically, rather than what it's made from, and you're now at the mercy of the whims of the vast "market"- pretty much as Tretov said earlier.
I began collecting Soviet ODM's; prices went out of control; I switched to Mongolian; same thing happened with the prices; I switched to DDR- guess what? Here we go again. Was bound to happen. Luckily, I've been able to collect some really great stuff before now. I haven't completely stopped collecting Soviet or Mongolian, and I doubt I'll slow down just yet on the DDR, but I have had to set my sites very carefully and watch "market" trends to judge when I will be able to move on certain items. Just the way it is.Comment

My answer is valid on general basis as well, some people are willing to pay extra in order to get something easier. It is like potatoes, I am willing to pay the price the grocery store ask for it even though it would be cheaper if I grew them myself in the back yard. I agree, it depends on who's buying the jacket and sometimes where its being sold. For example I go into my local army surplus shop and see a NVA Greatcoat for $50NZ.....I walk down the road a little to a shop selling 'vintage and retro' clothing and I see another NVA greatcoat for $130NZ.Originally posted by Tretov View PostComment
