Feuerwehr Abziegen?

The other day I got in a package with training weapons and with it
I got an for me unknown Feuerwehr cockade (at least, thats what I thought)

So I mailed to ask what it was and he said it is an DDR Feuerwehr Abziegen
without the DDR logo.

Anyone here has more information on this thing?

My thought also, that it wasn't an DDR one, but that it was Feuerwerh was clear.
Thats why I first mailed the seller and to be sure posted it here.

I've noticed many of these coming up for sale recently, all claiming to be DDR Feuerwehr. Unissued muster item? Something totally unrelated to the DDR in any way? I can't imagine them being fakes of some sort, since it would appear there would be very little profit in faking DDR Feuerwehr items.

I'd love to hear the answer if anyone has it.

I believe these to be West German FFW insignia. I have seen one with a swastika on the helmet so I don't know which, if any, of these is of the period. Not DDR insignia to my understanding.

Is this cap badge in gold or is it just the flash that makes it look that way? I've seen lots of these West German Feuerwehr cap badges but always in silver.

Its made of gold, so indeed officer than.

DDR Feuerwehr just wear Staatswappen in wreath like NVA on Schirmmützen. West German Feuerwehr have Feuwehrhelm with crossed axes above Bundesland Wappen or Kokarde (depending on time period and Bundesland).

No, But I can see how you can get confused as the page has a mix of DDR and current insignia. The section that badge is in is called Function Badges in Thuringia (Funktions Abzeichen in Thüringen) which I believe represent badges currently in use.

I also found it interesting that the Deutsche Jugendfeuerwehr (German Youth Firebrigade) insignia is very similar to that used during DDR times.

Ah ok. So its a current used insignia than. Was getting rather confused indeed...
