You've really got to love those limos... I mean, this is '89 and the styling would have been considered out of date in the west by 1961. But why re-engineer a perfectly good vehicle?

Ah well yes... Except that obviously that remark could equally apply to the monumental Rolls Royce that ferries around H.M. Queen Elizabeth II ... and if my political perceptions are perpetually subject to threats of duty cars and people's courts... one can only wonder how socialist HMQ could be considered...

On the other hand there is an old joke that says that if Socialism could work, it would have worked in England...
because the English love queueing and they have already had a dictator: Maggie Thatcher, and they all loved her !!

The other (admittedly unrelated) version of that joke has it that the DDR truly proved once and for all that socialism cannot work...
because if it ever could, the Germans would have made it work!

Point well taken, re: Her Royal Majesty's wheels.

Say what else you will about our American presidents (and depending on the president, you could say a lot) but they've always had up-to-the-minute style on their limos. I still love those big Lincolns from the JFK era.

BTW, what make are those cars in the video?

It's a Tschaika, made by GAS. I'll post some detailed pics when I find the CD.

So, here are some pictures of the vehicle. It is privately owned, still in running conditions and currently on long-term loan to a small Museum near Berlin. The pictures were taken in October 2007.
