Maybe Ralph knows it?
I got a Medal and Cetrifficate Lot from a guy who was a Lt.Col. as a Refferent-S. What "Rank" is this. I was told that his office was 3 away from Mielke on the same Floor.

Hi Nico, is it Refferent (with two F) or Referent (with one F)? Referent is basically an Abteilungsleiter and if his position is given as Referent-S., then it might an Abteilungsleiter-Sicherheit or Staatssicherheit or similar? Cheers, Torsten.

Hi Nico, I just checked a little further on the internet and in 'Beamtendeutsch' a Referent is actually a specific word for the personal assistant to a Minister and so, I would think here that Referent-S. means Referent-Staatssicherheit, i.e. Personal Assitant to the Minister for Staatssicherheit. They're not marked with Refferent-S.
I know this from the original owner.
His last promotion was in feb. 1989 so it's also not on the certifficates.
