Jon - A very interesting document you have in your collection. Could you please take a closer picture of the bottom information on the cover. I have some other thoughts, but I want to think some things through about your booklet...

Jon - Do you have any other maps depicting all of East Germany? The reason I am asking about any other pictures is that in post 3 and 4 it depicts a unit layout throughout East Germany. The info in the map was as of October 1954. What is interesting is that the map is showing five districts, but by 1954 there were 14 districts in East Germany. If I remember correctly the districts were changed from five to 14 in 1952. Something to think about...Why are they showing older districts...

I find the order of battle map and graphs depicting the Soviet forces with other background data throughout East Germany interesting. A booklet showing maps and graphs in the mid 1950s is a bit rare to see.

                      Thanks...

My question is: do you guys think that the information would be accurate??? Accurate meaning not propagandized by the West Germans.

I bet its 100% propagandized by the west with a Chance of 50/50 accurate. The same way like the East did.

Jon - For the price that is being offered for the book you can't go wrong even if the information is not completely true. My view is that the booklet is still part of history and I look at it from the stand point that the West was letting the East know what they were up to.
