    As straight as it can be, but it is not fully straight and it cannot be because of the angle of your hand to grip the sword. It is slightly arced but kept close to the body if you see what I mean.

            It is indeed a fine photograph. The others too but this one might really be the best as you say.
            This is presenting arms whilst marching past. The manuals do not indicate a specific command for it, so the one used when static might be the one:
            "Achtung. Präsentiert das - Gewehr!"
            Implicit there also is a "Augen - Rechts!" command...
            But Torsten told us that at the big parade in Berlin commands were not shouted. Instead the entire Marschblock knew what to do when they reached a certain guard (Wachregiment Felixe) of several who were posted at regular intervals alongside the road.
            For your purposes, given that you are unlikely to have a full band blasting marchmusic alongside which -I appreciate- is a bit of shame , I would use:
            "Achtung. Präsentiert das - Gewehr!"

              So then what would be the position BEFORE it then? And afterwards?
              I imagine it was held for however long the officer was marching past the viewing stand?

                    Watch the videos. the officer would be marching with the sword against his arm in parade step. At a certain point he would bring in front of his chest saluting as whilst standing and then swiftly take it down to the position you have there and keep it there whilst marching past.

                        Genosse iannima,

                        Speaking of proper sword drill I have a question for you and hope you can help.
                        Are you wearing a sword hanging belt or sling under your tunic? If it's a sling could you post a few photos of it? I'd like to make a copy of it for myself. I've seen original WW2 ones in the past and was wondering if they are the same pattern?
                        I'm great with sewing and leather work so no problem there, I just need some photos,

                        Unless I can find one thats cheap lol

                            Good that you are handy at sewing because you will need to cut a long buttonhole underneath the flap of the lower left pocket of the tunic you will be using for this purpose...

                              Well iannima not to Toot my own horn here but I'd say I'm very handy with a sewing machine, the 2 TR tunics were converted Swedish one from over 20 yrs ago when I use to do WW2 reenacting and the mysterious M43 raidrop pattern cap that sits ontop of my puppy I made back in 90 or 91..

                              Mmmm Knuckles930 at 18 euro I wonder if it would be cheaper to just get one thru you if still available? I've just not seen many around here where I live or on Ebay?
