    Hallo Wachregiment!
I am sorry I had not noticed that your Drillich is a lot more valuable than mine .
having said that I think my point of undoing the top button stands... Here are two photographs of soldiers wearing a jacket like yours (distinguishable from mine by the FOUR grey buttons)...

As for Beltring, all it takes is a bit of planning: here are the dates for next year: 16th July -20th July 2008. If your username means anything... I think we could do many things together

Don't worry Genosse, its nothing *that* perverted Matteo wants you for... its bound to be to try and persuade you to wear Wacht Regiment parade uniform and boost the numbers in his Fahren Partie

He always seems to do this when we from the WPFG are not looking....

You have to admit that the earlier Drillich tunic looks a lot better when buttoned up to the collar then the later pattern, even if this was not regulation. Boy would I like to get my hands on one.

Well, the collar button is actually a tunic button, in the right position. And the collar actually looks like a standing collar, not just a piece of fabric.

To help boost the quotas of the Reenactment thread here are some rather era appropriate photos I took about a year ago that I finally got developed.

Missing some essential field gear but you get the idea.

                Genosse,
Where to begin, first, the path to Progressive Re-enactment is one that is a Historic mission that we are called to.. your scale of Issue needs work but conforms to the Norm of one that first wishes to Protect the Workers and farmers Power.

From small seeds, World Revolution Grows.

First untuck the boots from the Field service Dress, and take your hands from the pockets.

But still a good start...Hurrah!!, Hurrah!, Hurrah!!.

We had an interesting cure for the "Hands-in-the-pockets" habit when assigned to 40th Armor in Berlin. The guilty party when caught was made to carry a "Tankers Idler compensating wheel track adjusting Wrench" until another guilty party was found. The tool was then transfered to the new guilty party, and passed on again when another violator presented himself. It was always fun in the motor pool / tank park each day to look around to see who was stuck with the "Infamous Wrench".

Needless to say, it was primarily the uninitiated that broke the rule and got caught. Old Timers just enjoyed watching it passed around from time to time.

Oops.. wow.. How ashamed should I be for not knowing about the hands in pockets thing.... very. Guess its no weekend pass for me. Well, I can at least defend my reasoning for tucking my trousers into my boots.

Besides, the more boot the better.

Hands in the pockets is not allowed in any military I don't think. NCO's are always telling us "get your hands out of your pockets!" I guess it has always been that way. Well, you learn something every day!
                        Take care,

Oh Dear! A kindred spirit! Seriously though, Viktor is right that with with a Strichtarn the boots should be covered unless VERY muddy conditions demand that trousers be stuffed into the boots. I have seen this photograph before and often wondered whether they are not actually wearing RUBBER boots, known as Welligtons here and God knows how in Germany. I have seen Rubber boots advertised on Ebay as being NVA. So they might actually exist.
In any case, good effort and continue on this route! As Viktor has repeatedly said: "...it is a sweet disease..."

Genosse iannima, is correct, within the Regulations it can be ordered that Trousers are tucked boots, and cuffs turned back of sleeves of jackets, these instructions come from an Officer.
