I will correct this very fast though. I will get the AKM pouch and correct spaten (which is hard to find over here) soon as possible.

I don't know whether to smile or to cry .... Genosse... I see that the "sweet disease" to which Viktor keeps referring, has taken hold of you too .

By first pattern Y strap I believe you mean the one with a "heart" shaped leather centrepiece at the back. If that is the case, the best ammunition pouch to have is a curved AKM one with a D ring at the back so that you hook the Y strap on to it rather than to the belt. The correct entrenching tools is actually rather rare: I keep finding the Strichtarn covered one and the old "Wehrmachty" one probably used by the Kampfgruppen. The latter is documented in use by the NVA together with a Strichtarn uniform but probably an earlier one than yours (exposed buttons on the sleeves).

Be aware that there is an even earlier grey webbing pattern (samples of which I have seen at Nico's and which I am currently struggling with my conscience on whether they should be purchased or not ) where the hooks at the front are not adjusted with a buckle like yours and later ones, but with "beltholes" so to speak. It is to be worn with D rings loops at the belt and it has clips and not D rings to attach the backpack. This pattern would be incorrect with your uniform because it was used in the early 1960s mostly with Blumentarn equipment (and Drillich uniforms ). It might have occasionaly been used later on but it would have caused problems with the equipment, because later Teil 1 and 2 backpacks are hooked differently.

Why, you should take it as a complement Genosse.

Anyway, To rip off a fellow forum Genosse's favorite phrase: Excellent Scale of issue Genosse Klaus! You surely don't cut corners.

        Thanks for the good comments!

I already use the belt loops to support my belt in the front because it sags and I have seen some photographic evidence of them.

My back, showing what is wrong back there. Last one for now, at least:

Unfortunately, like all but one photo, the photographer cut off my feet in the picture (the person is not that great with a camera). Soon I remove all but this photo (since my face is not visible) due to paranoia about internet safety, so enjoy now!

Well, since everybody else is doing it...

          Here's me!

This one is slightly photoshoped to give it a more 70's feel.(The other person you see is actually me again, I cloned myself in so it would look like there was 2 soldiers). I do have a friends who shares my interest in the DDR and collects, but none of them were present this day, so I had to do it all by myself.

This one is also photoshoped to look more poster-like.

But, should I cover the eyes since some of you claim "it's not safe"?

Hey - I hope all these keen re-enactors are going to be at Beltring this year!

                    Great photos

I live in a townhouse with little yard, so I could not get that "out in the field" look.

I will post one of the ones of me back up. I cropped and edited it for more of a late 70s/ early 80s "feel" (with a very cheap camera). Taking a break somewhere in the DDR, c. 1979 (I doubt Viktor's Centre would want me to give exact locations!):

                      cloned parade!

The photographic way ahead is quite clear - Genosse Wallonian has to photograph himself in parade uniform, then clone the image enough times for an entire march down Karl Marx Allee!

Oh yes, we have something planned with a NVA theme too !!

Should be good... but anyone else who wishes to come join the fun, let us know!

This year's Beltring's honour name is "Five Days of World Peace in the name of Ernst Thälmann"

Enigma229 and Ingsoc75 are one and the same.

My apologies for any confusion this might of caused.

                                Cool Panzermann with MPi.

Reminds me somewhat of a scene on a NVA reservist honor scar I have.
