Did they actually write the selling price ( ERUO 150 & EURO 75) on the last page on which also was written Widmung Erich Mielke?

Hi Michael, its the seller that wrote on the prices who also wrote on this Widmung Erich Mielke ... I agree that no items should ever be written on or have stickers placed on them or whatever by sellers...but at least this one did it with light pencil writing and that can easily be removed again...and also, the seller here was clever enough to figure out who's birthday it was before offering the book up for sale...Cheers, Torsten.

        Hi Torsten,

I suspected the prices and writing were all one and the same.

        Thanks for the confirmation.

yes, at least its written with Pencil. I guess the Book went through some Hands before ending up in my Collection, because it still had the Price 150DM written and after the Euro came to Germany, they changed it to 75EUR.
          Regards

I would say that this book was on sale in a proper second-hand bookshop. (The one in Rostock would be "Norddeutsches Antiquariat". It is common practise in these shops to pencil in the price and also references to any possible signatures from the author, for example.
I think, the "Widmung E Mielke" was written to make sure people will accept the relatively high price for a book in Russian. However, I do not belive it was done without questioning the person from whom the book was bought. ( Everyone can turn up with books in these shops and you get an offer).
