New Book Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen

I ordered a copy of Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen, Battenberg Verlag, 2006, ISBN 3-86646-002-3, thru www.abebooks.com. The size of the book is 7 1/2" x 5" or about 19 x 12.5 cm.

It's an outstanding book with a huge section on the DDR with color plates and a ribbon chart. On most medals it shows the front and back and valuations in Euros.

The book cost me $26 + $6.98 postage = $32.99. Since I opted for the cheaper surface postage it took almost 45 days to get here, but well worth the wait. Of course it can be had for 19,90 EUR in Germany.

I saw that book in hand last week - a pal of mine has a copy - I was impressed with it's photos and set up I think it's a good value.

Used to have an old version of the Battenberg guide, but I did not find it all that useful and sold it again...I think I now have all of the German medal guides that I need for Imperial, Third Reich and DDR....now I am only looking for specialised, in depth guides for particular groups of awards...Cheers, Torsten.

PS: For DDR medals and awards I cannot think of anything better than the Bartel Spezialkatalog.

Torsten - I thought the Battenberg was a good value for the price. Plus it show the backsides of medals, something you don't see in most guides. And my Bartel's catalogs are woefully out of date (1991) and I've been waiting for the 2006 version to come out. Has it?

I have the 1998 Bartel Spezialkatalog, but it would be great if there was one combined one in colour. But he is re-publishing them again the individual volumes as in 1991, rather then the 1998 single volume for everything...;-((...got to find a way to maximise his profits I guess....

The Battenberg very probably has improved since the version I used to own...which would have been an early 1990's one...Cheers, Torsten.

another book for those 2 people in this hobby that don't have Die Landstreitkr******228;fte der NVA, Die andere deutsche Luftwaffe, Die Luftstreitkr******228;fte der NVA or Die andere deutsche Marine....an amalgamation of all three titles in one volume...nothing new, nothing that was not included in the earlier publications...

as for the works on the NVA listed on amazon.de there seems to be a bums rush of titles compared to a few months ago
