*Wanted-Items* Thread? yes or no Poll!

    Hi all,

Fist Time I start a Poll and I thought it would be interesting to find out if Forum Members would like to have a pinned WANTED-ITEMS Thread especially for DDR Collectibles.
The Reason is, because the whole WAF Forums are more WWII related and IMO the Wanted Forum on the E-stand isn't that suitable for DDR Collectors at all, why not have our own wanted Thread.
The Thread should be for all kind of DDR related Items like Medals,Uniforms, Insignia, Urkunden, Books, Ausweise,References etc. etc.

Where one just post the Item hes looking for and if another Member has this Item and can part with it, both get in contact via PM or email to find out if they can make a deal or not. Sometimes, people have not the Time to search through the whole ebay categories to find the particular Item they are looking for or the Seller just do not want to ship his Items outside of his Country. This, sometimes makes it hard for people from abroad to get Things for their Collections and because i for one think I would trust a known Forum Member more than a Seller on a Auction website, this could be a comfortable way to find DDR Items for the Collection.
Im not sure if that is possible to realize but I would just like to find out what the Poll result will end up with. Yes or No.

This Thread here is not for posting wanted DDR Items, just to find out if there is an interest in such Thread or not.

    thanks and regards

    Andreas,

I'll run your idea by Ralph. I for one think it is worth exploring and looking into. However, due to certain rules that are in place for conduct on the Forum, I think after this is run by Ralph, it will then have to be tabled with Seba for final approval. I will get back to you shortly.

        Andreas,

Looks like everyone has voted yes so far. All seven of us. I have never had any luck posting "wanted" Third Reich items on the wanted page. I don't think anyone even looks at it. It is simpler to post what you are going to sell and let other come to you. On the other hand, what I was looking for was rare and that may have had a bearing. Nice idea and glad to hear that Michael is running it by Ralph.

        Cheers,

        Gordon

          Just an update.

I and Ralph have had an opportunity to talk. There of course will have to be rules of engagement. For example, how many items can be wished for and how many posts can be made, and how long a post can remain active - just to provide examples. Also, we have to ensure everyone knows there can be no dialogue on the thread. All communication between those wising for an item, and those having such an item and desiring to pass it along, must be by PM or email - no exceptions. These are just some of the challenges.

While I'm in favor of such a thread, there have to be guidelines and perimeters, or it will not be of much use. Presently, Ralph and I have established what we think will be acceptable perimeters and guidelines for such a thread as Andreas has proposed, and we are presently running it up the "Flag Pole" so to speak, to see if it will be acceptable within the established rules by which all members have to abide. Ralph also moderates the Internationale E-Stand and therefore has acquired a bit of experience regarding what has been proposed by Andreas. So if it can be done, he certainly will have the knowledge and experience to see it through.

Now I would ask all to wait and see what developes. This may take a little time, but it is being addressed. When more is known, I will respond here on this thread.

            Great News!!!
Thank you very much, Michael and Ralph for the support and help for this Idea
Im sure there will be no Problem to follow the Rules and Guidelines.
It could be used just like the other pinned Threads. If a Forum Member is looking for something, just post it in that Thread. If an wanted Item is acquired or no longer desired, just edit this post for example with the word "Done". All Forum Members can check the Thread from Time to Time, to see if they can be of help.
There should be no further dialouge regarding wanted items in this Thread.Everything should be discussed via Pm or email (buy, trade or both)
ok,now lets wait & hope, that we can find out how this Idea works out in the near future.
            Thanks & Regards

I think this is a good idea and I for one would certainly be willing to abide by any rules that were laid down to keep any transactions off the public forum. Perhaps just a listing of what one collects or specific items they are looking for would be acceptable.

                Andreas,

You and the other interested members are quite welcome. This after all is your Forum. Ralph and I are here to help and assist. If approved, the perimeters for how it will operate of course, will be discussed with all.

Hi Andreas, as you know I am in favour of something like this...you may recall I tried to start something similar previously (DDR swap meet thread) but it was banned to a different place and evidently 'died the death of being forgotten about in one of the other forums'... lets see if this idea is permitted to remain in the DDR forum and not go to the 'Wanted Forum Section' of the WAF...Cheers, Torsten.

Its a good idea and one I think would work well amongst us.

I do agree DDR items (and Soviet ones!) are lost in the e-stand in a sea of fascism... I don't even bother checking it...

However isn't one of the W/A membership benefits being able to post items for sale? Won't we undermine that here? Unless of course non-association members aren't allowed to post in the thread...

                      Hi Kozlov,
It should be no sales thread, it should be a "wanted items.." Thread. Where you can post what you specificlly do collect and of course,Items you are looking for,for your own collection. if you get those Items for writing a nice email to the Member that has contacted you or swap a pair of Generals Shoulderboards for a early NVA Stahlhelm etc., is up to you and should be dicussed via Pm and email only.

Sounds good to me...though I might not use it that often if it follows the e-stand format...of course that is e-stand and we are talking about something entirely different.

Swamped in a sea of Fascism....

This is exactly why i am working on my own board....namely one for DDR Typen by them...well mostly by me with input of the members. I agree that paying something to be able to sell items is fair, just not when the majority of the site is geared to a different set of collecting (i do collect both WW2 German and DDR). Hauptsache ist....ich will die Erste Seite in den USA nur fuer DDR Sammler werden.

I would be for it. I do list things I have for sale on the E-stand but did not have much success. I do check out the wanted section also but it is mostly WWII items that are to rare for me to find. If it does not work then it can always go away.
