    Map of Germany-experts please help

Hi I purchased this old table cigarette case with a map of Germany.

Is there a way of determine the period of the case by looking at the cities on the map?

is it pre-1945 or 1946 to 1989 or post 1990?

    please help, any opinions welcome

It is not pre-45, because they would call this Germany. I let you guess what.

And look, you can see the border of East-Germany.

It is definitely post 1945 because the Eastern border is on the Oder Neisse line and the city of Frankfurt am Oder is right on the border with Poland. It once was squarely in Germany. As Andy has pointed out the DDR border is traced out. So my guess is that it was produced in West Germany before 1990

It could also being produced between 1949 and 1953, because "Chemnitz" was not called "Karl-Marx-Stadt" on it...
But it is definitivly not DDR-made, because we did "Szeczin" never calling "Stettin"...

yes, it could be, but west germans did not accept the name Karl-Marx-Stadt for a long time...looking at the design, etc. I would think it is 1960's. Chers, Torsten.

It's a typical early 50's souvenir for the allied soldiers in Germany, mostly used for the americans. I'll saw them sometimes with guy's from USAREUR, and only 1 time with a Berlin Veteran.
