Gentlemen,
I have an old style leather enlisted belt with an owner applied marking and I have a question.
The marking is a Roman numeral followed by Arabic numbers, "XXI 18292." This marking is written in ink on the belt tounge and is, I presume, a unit and/or individual identifier. I am not familiar with East German marking practices and any ideas would be appreciated. My guess would be a unit number followed by the serial number of an individual. Any ideas?
