    GST and NVA medal grouping

    Here is a set os 2 medal bars tat I have just received... the top one is GST ... the bottom one is NVA ... they seem to be from the same person... but who would be the owner of such a grouping ??

    Olivier - Your thread of the Ernst Schneller medals caught my eye from the stand point of how the medals are put together with the ribbon hanger. I have not seen that before and I would be interested in reading other members posts if this was the norm.     Also the same link also provides background information about Schneller.

      the owner of such a grouping would have likely been an NVA officer who served as a GST functionary after his retirement from the army ... or an army officer who was commandeered by the army to work with the GST full time...but more likely a retired army officer who then took up a full time job with the GST.
