    Wilhelm Pieck's Medal

    Found this pic of president Wilhelm Pieck in a 1950's DDR Aufbausparbuch that I could as part of a very nice document lot...anyhow, question is: can anyone tell me what medal it is that he is wearing in the portrait?.... I am sure that someone can.... Cheers, Torsten.

    Hello Torsten,so far as I can see its the first type "held der arbeit".Only given end 40's and begin 50's.
    Extremely rare medal.It was changed later for the models we know.

                        Torsten - You are welcome. What was interesting for me was that the photographs in the book I own show that Pieck went from wearing his medals to wearing the ribbon bar on his suit jacket as the years went on as shown in post 10.
