Hi Guys, those of you, who came to Berlin last week know that I bought a set of Hundefuehrer badges cheap on the flea market on Sunday...they were sold and bought as copies....but on closer inspection I find that the level III badge appears to have the correctly revited screwthread (no slotted screwhead) on the back...the other two badges have the fused on small screws as you would expect from a fake...could the level three badge be an original??? Cheers, Torsten.

Hi Torsten,
Nice Set
Where do you have the Informations from about the different screws indicating a Fake or Real type of this Badge?
Here is mine Level III...it is a worn Badge, bought directly from a VP Man and it has the slotted Screw welded on.
I would say the different Screws are just Variations made during the years, because it was probably cheaper to produce it this way.

Dog Handler badges are the exception to the rule with screws.
These type of spange were issued right up until 1989 and used by Police Dog Handlers in the MDI.
Early type badges have the pressed in type screw post, later badges (probably ´80s) have the screw soldered to the reverse directly.
I havent seen any decent copys of the Dog Handler badges. I would say that all the shown examples are original.

Also forgot to mention, you can see they are OK by the style of numeral used for the class.
Also, in reply to another comment. Slotted screws were used by Pr******228;WeMa on the 1990 series of restrikes. Original Qualispangen (except Drivers or Dog Handlers which were both issued up until 1990) from the 60s will only display the pressed in type of screwpost. If they have slotted screws they are repro.
