    Flecktarn Tents and Zeltbahns

    Hello,

I recently bought a blumentarn tent that came with 3 panels. They are not pyramid shape like WWII Zelbahns but rectangle. The tent was not assembled so I have no idea on how to put it together. Each panel seems to be adjustable for wearing. I looked on the forum for flectarn tents and Zeltbahns but couldn't find them. So I thought perhaps some of you would like to share their knowledge and photos on this subject.

    Thanks

Could you show photos of the one that you have got? Cheers, Torsten.

      Genosse,
A 3 #Zeltbahn Zelt will give you a teep, fold into triangles use the bottom bit as a ground sheet around a central pole.
You need 4# for a good sized tent, botton two together, (the hood bit you have high lighted in the bottom corners) this is the roof ,the walls are just a square zeltbahn folded so it is a triangle ,the folded bit makes a partial ground sheet. Always have the hood bits at the bottom so the water doesn't run into the arm holes the wrong way.
the door is just one of the seams of a wall

You need 4# Zeltbahns 8 #poles 8# pegs and 4# guy ropes.. all normal NVA issued items this is the scale of issue for 4 #men.

Victor has told you exactly how it works

I can only add that this item is copied in design from the Soviet "Plash-Palatka". They are a very practical item of kit.

        Cheers, Ade.

          Hello Victor.

Thanks for your description on how to. I hope someone can post pictures of an an assembled 3 and 4 piece tent. It would be very nicer to see an original nva era picture with these.

Until someone can post a photo of the camo NVA version, here is the Soviet "Plash" used as a tent at one of our living history events. You can see how they were buttoned together. In the foreground two are used and at the back of the picture there are four used as described by Viktor. (We poor Soviet's don't have tent poles, so note the field made poles )

            Cheers, Ade.

              Comrade,

Have a look at the WPFG website:

              http://www.wpfg.org.uk

If you go into the WPFG photo section you will see lots of pics of us deployed with zelt tents exactly as Genosse Viktor describes.

PS You seem to be spending a lot of time in the DDR forum Ade... not tempting you are we...
