DRK and Feuerwehr Schiffchen

Gents,

I have a schiffchen from the DDR DRK and one from the DDR Feurewehr and I am not sure if they are for enlisted men of officers. Unfortuanley my rank charts don't contain any reference to cap badges. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Now for the DRK schiffchen. I have my suspicions of what each hat is but will keep my thoughts to myself so as not to influence anyones comments.

Hi Gordon, The Feuerwehr schiffchen are worn by enlisted personnel and the DRK schiffchen are worn by officers. The aluminum piping on this DRK schiffchen indicated that officers in DRK worn those hats. I own this DRK overseas hat similiar to yours in my collection. I got this DRK schiffchen off eBay 4 years ago. I think those hats are from early days likely in 1960s. Nice DDR schiffchen!!! Thanks regards,James

The Feuerwehr one is for volunteer (the cap badge is specific). For the professionals, the badge is the same as the army/police one.

Hi Torsten, I didnt buy the DRK hat from you off eBay. I bought this hat from a eBay seller in US. I liked this DRK overseas hat because it was very ususal to have a enameled red cross emblem inside the embrodiered wreath. I still have that hat today. Thanks regards,James

Thanks for the info. I was pretty sure that the DRK hat was for an officer and the Feurewehr hat for an enlisted man but did not know about different cockades for volunteer and professional feurewehr. Can some one post a picture of the professional feurewehr cap badge for the schiffchen?
