    !!Verdienter Volkspolizist!! Ordensspange

    Hello Genossen

Finally I can present you one of the rarest East German Police Awards and I'm proud to say, it is a Original piece and no "Sammleranfertigung".

It was not the highest Award for a Policeman. This would have been the VVO but it was by far the rarest Police Award. I don't know the regulations to get this award but I do know that even spending 40years in the Police service did not automaticly get you this Award.

" Verdienter Volkspolizist der DDR" (Meritorious Policeman) 1st Version bronce/goldish
    founded 15.06.1966 (Bartels#86a)

Very impressive ! How did you know it'snt a "put together" ? Did you obtain it from the former police officer ?

            Andreas,

Very nice ribbon bar. I'd like to have one of those myself. Thanks very much for posting the photos. I'd ignore the last post. Someone always feels they have to say that.

            Regards,

            Gordon

What's the problem ? I never said this is not a good piece, I just want to know if there is a history behind it. My english is not good, that's all.

                Garulfo,

Your second post, as a response to mine, gives your meaning very clearly. Asking for history has a very clear meaning. When you ask "How did you know it isn't a "put together piece"" it sounds as though you are saying the bar is a fake. I appologize. It isn't easy to say what you mean, and say it clearly, in another language than your mother tongue.

                Regards,

                Gordon

That's why I hesitate to post here. I'm always afraid to be misunderstood.

Francois, don't be afraid to post here...little misunderstandings can always happen (happens to me all the time) and they can always be sorted out very quickly... Cheers, Torsten.

Very nice set. Did any documents come with the medals?

Also, thanks for the education that the medal was a rare to be awarded. Do you know by chance what the critrea would have been to recieve the award?

No Problem,I know how hard it is to find the right words in a different language and I understand the meaning of your post.

Unfortunatly the Spange doesn't come from a Police Officer and I don't know its history.I admit,I found the Spange a little suspect in the set up.I have never seen a small ribbon attached on a Spange before. I would have thought this award was worn as a single award on a Tunic and not on a Spange(Verdienstmedaille DDR).
