    2. NVA Generalmajor/Wehrmacht Generalmajor Dr. rer. pol. Otto Korfes. Knight’s Cross: 22 January 1943, Generalmajor, Commander of the 295th Infantry Division.

    3. NVA Generalleutnant/Wehrmacht Generalleutnant Vincenz Müller. Knight’s Cross: 7 April 1944, Generalleutnant, Deputy Leader of the XXVII Army Corps.

4.NVA Oberst Walter Litzmann-Lehweiss/Luftwaffe Oberstleutnant who commanded KG3 bomber squadron. Awarded the Knight's Cross in October of 1943.

    5.NVA Oberst Willy Riedel/Wehrmacht Major, RK:25.Jan.1943.

6.NVA Oberst/Wehrmacht Oberleutnant he was was captured during the final phase of the battle of Stalingrad in 1943 and never knew about his Knight's Cross award.

    7.NVA Obesrt/Wehrmacht Hauptmann Paul Markgraf, RK:3 January 1943

I would love in anybody could list more RK winners in the NVA, or provide pics of the listed above wearing their Wehrmacht/NVA decoration and medals.

All the pictures are from the book : "Qui commande l'armée est-allemande ?" (Who leads the east-german army ?), 1962

They appear to be the same photos that are in SED-Funktionare in Offiziersuniform, Wer befiehlt in der "Nationalen Volksarmee"? Friedrich P. Martin, Markus-Verlag GMBH, Koln. Unfortunately all I have is a photocopy of this book. Kevin

Then you have an outstanding and rare book with lots of photos and biographical information of early NVA officers. I would say most, if not all of these former Wehrmacht officers were part of the "Nationalkomitee Freies Deutschland" when they were Soviet POWs. Many were Stalingrad survivors.

But the book does not just cover Wehrmacht officers but also talks about those officers that came from other sources such as the underground, those who fought for the Soviets, old communist fighers from the 20s & 30 as well as the war in Spain (Obert Gottfried Grunberg for example), SED party Apparatschiks, etc...

I found a very intresting information about Wilhelm Adam, apparently he was among the early member of the NSDAP and took part in the putch attempt in 1923, so I assuming he won the "Blutorden" for this, this would probably make him the only Blutorden holder that serve in the NVA.

interesting article and interesting person....I wonder if he was given the Blutorden since he left the NSDAP again in 1926? Do we have photos of him in Wehrmacht uniform showing his ribbons? Cheers, Torsten.
