    Firstwirtschaft Uniforms

    Gents,

Here are photos of the Forstwirtschaft uniforms in my collection. The first photos I will post are of a senior officer. The uniforms is complete with shirt, tie, pants, tunic and hat. The colour is unusual for German forst uniforms. It is almost a khaki colour rather then the bright green one normally associates with German Forst uniforms.

We'll start with the shirt which is totally different than any other shirt I have seen associated with DR uniforms. It has sewn on silver metal button approx 12 mm in diametre. There is a small button on the sleeve for when the sleeves are rolled up. The shirt borders on the grey side for colour. The tie is unmarked and the same colour as the uniform.

#4-Collar tabs and shoulderboards. Shoulderboards indicate rank of Forstmeister. These twisted cord type boards in green were worn for the ranks of Forstmeister, Oberforstmeister and Oberstforstmeister. For a good display of the Forst shoulderboards visit gmg's site. The collar tabs are not mentioned in the set of regulations I have but should be correct.

#7-Trousers colour matches the tunic. There is a thin dark green stripe running down the outside seam of the trousers.

#8-Peaked cap. Thin dark green cord runs around the seam in the crown. Sorry the picture is not better. The cap band is dark green.

#10-Now on to the enlisted mans tunic. The difference in the colour between the two uniforms is quite marked although it does not show up that well in the photos. Theses two uniforms may be from very different time periods. The officers uniform is well worn while the enlisted mans was never issued. I used the shirt that came with the officers tunic when I took the pictures of the E/M tunic but I do not know if this is correct or not. The E/Ms uniform is a bright green and is marked with a size of "90". This size marking is normally associated with a woman's tunic but this one seems to be for a man since it buttons up the way a man's would.
On the officers tunic the collar was the same colour as the body of the tunic. The E/Ms collar is a brighter green and matches the shoulderboards. It has a markers tag inside for the VEB Spezialbekleidings Leipzig. The breast pockets are not real.

#13-M43 style cap. Cap badges are silver up to rank of Landforstmeister. Oberlandforstmeister, Oberstlandforstmeister and Generalforstmeister wear gold cap emblems. This caps is trimmed in green around the crown. I do not know if silver or gold trim is used for officers but I have seen these caps on ebay.de with gold coloured insignia and green trimmed crowns.

Big time "Cudos" to you. You have some very unique articles of clothing. I suspect few out there have focused in on this area of East German collecting. And that you know about the subject matter relative to this specific service, adds that much more to it.

                            Great collection.

Is the Officers Uniform grey or green, and is there any Stamp in it.
It looks like a Rückwärtige Dienste.
The MF Regulations say's that the have a Forestry Uniform with NVA Insignias.
So, in the moment I'm a little bit confused.
Maybe you an post more details.
