this is the only problem I have at the moment with this Visor Hat,

The little Gap between Hat and Corckade there is,what looks like a button where usally is a hole on the later Visor hats.

              Is this normal??

Hello, how ist the color off the cap?? just like on the picture??.
Strange that there is no label. The cap looks new to me.The label tells a lot about the date.
Do you know the bepo uniforms???Is this hat made off the same quality??
I wish we could comunicate in German language.

                  Hi Stefas

I have taken the pictures under normal Light and with Flash. The color appears to be a bit brighter in real than on the pictures.
What does BEPO stand for?? "Berufspolizei"???

The material of the hat is more roughly than on my 1962 and 65 Visors.
The Visor itself is of the early painted style.

Here are two more pictures taken under different light but the color is still a bit different than in real(photos taken with flash)
....I will take more pictures in daylight tomorrow.

                  regards

P.S. No Problem for me to communicate in german

I think the shape of the Label is at least the same like you'll find on early Visors.
The later ones didn't have a round side,it looks more like this <>

                        .
Now I got it!!! BePo = Bereitschatfspolizei

this is what I have found:

Die Bereitschaftspolizei der DDR wurde nach dem Vorbild der sowjetischen "Inneren Truppen" organisiert und ging Ende 1954 aus den Wachverb******228;nden des Staatssekretariats f******252;r Staatssicherheit (SfS) hervor. Bis zum 1. Oktober 1956 trugen sie sogar die sowjetische Bezeichnung "Innere Truppen".

Stefas,Unfortunatly I don't know how the quality of the BePo Uniforms is and how they exactly do look like.
Maybe someone can provide a photo of an BePo Men?Or even better, can show a similar DGP Visor from his Collection.
I hope Michael or SCHUPO will take a peak on my
Visor Cap and give me a or
                        TIA

                        cheers
                        Andreas

P.S. I have to say,the strap seems quite shiny and doesn't really look like old used leather..
I have to stop now, because I already get a lil scared....but still hope all turns to the good

                          Hello Andreas,

This hat has me confused, and I'm hoping D. HANCOCK, R. CHURCH, or M. CUSTER will respond when time permits.

It to the best of my knowledge is not DGP, KVP or even Polizei. Given the color of the band between the brim and the top of the hat, it actually appears to be Grenztruppen. I wish the sweat shield inside was still present with the year. I suspect the chinstrap probably should be leather, but cannot say for certain since the sweatshield is missing, and it is not possible to say what year the hat is.

I have to say in my opinion, the insignia - KVP is incorrect on this hat. I suspect it more probably should be the type with the bullseye, or dependent upon the year produced, even a staatswappen.

But I will wait and let more experienced collectors who are more familiar with DDR military hats produced in the 50s comment and say only that I think the hat in its current configuration is not correct. But I think it can be made right.
