Wearing Your M56 On A Belt?

Hallo, Genossen! I came across some photos online of some East German soldiers, and some of them have their helmets at their belts. I'm curious on how to pull it off. Is it communist witchcraft, the bayonet, or some piece of equipment or method?

Update: Found another photo that's a decent resolution

I also believe that might be how. Though I'm still curious because wouldn't the helmet want to slouch forward rather than stay up against the person, though I will take a minute to do some trial and error.

Alright, I did some of the said trial and error. I couldn't have it at the angle like the photos. Now, this could be due to my size and/or how my belt is laid out or how it's sized. Or it could just be that the chinstrap is too long (though mine is about as short as it can get.) But I might keep trying.

Solved! I just pulled the slack down until the helmet's rear straps for the y-harnesses got to the belt
