Cold War History...Poll

Hello all,

I am posting this poll to find out if there would be any interest in a Cold War history thread. This poll will last for thirty days and will be pinned to get max exposure to forum members.

What I am thinking of right now are forum members to write Cold War articles or articles from their past of what they did during the Cold War and post them on the forum to be read and discussed.

So I will be interested in what you think or any other comments about this thread. Thanks…Ralph

Hey Torsten...good question. Well, one of my past times I enjoy is history and I enjoy doing research and have put together some articles (Example: The brief history of the MfS). So posting this poll lets me and others know if there is an interest for more articles that go beyond dicussing collection items.

I am writing two new papers for publication at the moment...but I don't think that you would really want to know what they are about... Cheers, Torsten.

I'm totally for this, as long as:

a). The articles are historically accurate and not based on something someone read with no follow through research to insure accuracy of content; and or the information is not merely pulled from the clouds (shooting from the hip).

b). The articles are linked to East Germany, East Berlin, or West Berlin. I included West Berlin because it was 130 miles inside of East Germany.

c). Credit is given by the writer (person making the post) to the source or sources form which the information is derived.

d). None of the posts to this thread if it is started, are based on hypothetical conjecture or a (what if?) scenario.

Just my thoughts.

If you're looking for anecdotal thoughts from a former US soldier who did a lot of border duty on the west side of the fence in the early 80s, I could add some.

I would love to hear stories from anyone who would have been my counterpart on the other side.

Hey Greg...thanks for the offer. So far it is looking good that I will start the thread in about 30 days. So when the history articles start up, I and others will for sure apperciate your knowledge and any background information you can provide.
