    What is a "Innendienstleiter"????

    #2
    Innen = I don't know, I think its mean Indoor but I'm not sure.

    Dienst = service.

    Leiter = Leader.

    Service leader of something.

    Sorry Kozlov but I can't help more then translate word by word for those I know.

        I guess, you can translate it with head/chief of internal affairs.

          I guess it should be in the DDR forum.

            Hi Soviet, I think that it should be within the DDR forum too. I will copy the thread to there

            Cheers, Ade.

                Kozlov,

                "Innendienstleiter" is a Kampfgruppen rank (also in the Brandschutzeinheiten). It is in fact the lowest rank and is indicated by a sleeve patch, "eine 1cm breite und 15cm lange rote Tresse" or a cuffband with this title worn on the right sleeve. I hope this helps.

                  Is it? In all the rank insignia charts I have seen it is listed almost seperated from the other insignia and AFTER battaillon commander...

                  I don't think its a field heirachy rank at all, but something like a admin post or similar.

                  If you look at the TOE of the Kampfgruppen, a Truppführer is in charge of a trupp, which is the smallest unit. There doesnt need to be anyone else with rank there.

                  Anyone ever seen this rank worn?

                  BTW, yes you are correct, its a much longer piece of narrow read tresse than the Truppführer....

                    Koslov,

                    I quoted the MdI regulations dated 14.04.88. IV. Dienstgradabzeichen, Beschreibung der Dienststellungabzeichen der Kampfgruppen der Arbeiterklasse (Armtressen), 5.(1) indicates the red Tresse is to be 1cm wide and 15cm long. The chart that I have does show the stripe as being longer than all the others and it is placed at the bottom of the chart below Gruppenführer/Truppen-/Geschutz-/Werfer- ranks, which is a shorter narrow stripe. Above this is the Zugführer, which is a single thick short stripe. I don't know what chart you are looking at but Batallionskommandeur has three thick stripes on my chart. From thin to thick stripes is the rank structure in the Kampfgruppen.

                      I think short you can say: the "Innendienstleiter" in Kampfgruppen is like the "Spiess" in the German armies...

                      Do you know the Kampfgruppen-homepage? http://kampfgruppen.de/

                        AR-11,

                        Yes I know the site well

                        Ahhhh I understand "Der Spiess" very well!

                        That would explain it then, its more of an honour title than one of strict heirachical command structure.

                        The other interesting thing is the "alternatives" listed for Kampfgruppen ranks - for exmaple "deputy battaillon commander" is also listed as "party secretary". Other ranks the same.

                        Thanks AR-11!

                          its a job function rather than a rank...
