That is the handy work of Kozlov .....he looks after that side of the Struggle to wear old eastern European military clothing in a field. Thank's for the name check though , .... you are welcome.

Weren't the gray webbing belts used in parade instead of the black leather belts during a short period in the 60s ??

Yes Olivier, you are right, but that just reinforces my point... Only the gray belt can be worn with this uniform. I know that the black leather one looks nicer!! As indeed pink piped shoulder boards would look nice on the black panzer uniform, but they would be unfortunately incorrect

Matteo, you are correct here and on this one...if I remember correctly, then we never wore a belt with the black Panzer Kombi, but we did wear a belt (only ever the webbing belt) with the FDU (Felddienstuniform), but when being inside any tank vehicle you were really supposed to remove the belt. The brown leather belt was only really worn with DU (Dienstuniform) and Parade Uniform and I do not know, if I ever mentioned that here, but both Dirk (AR-11 on the forum) and I were in the Artillery and more precisely in the SFL (Self Propelled Artillery). Below is a pic of an SFL. This is a 2s1M (122mm Howitzer)...but if you are interested to learn a little bit more about it, then I very strongly recommend that you have a look at Dirk's website: http://www.sfl-artillerie.de.vu/zp_de.html. At the OHS we trained on the 2s1M, but Dirk actually served on the 2s3 (152mm howitzer)...Cheers, Torsten. (ebay id german.militaria).

This uniform was actually called "Arbeitsuniform" (work uniform) and was worn on park days and other duties/trainings. The Arbeitsuniform was ALWAYS worn without any belt. The only exception I can remember when it was worn during training on the assault course.

The picture which shows the uniform to be worn with a belt must be quite old. Also, in the eighties this uniform was never worn over another uniform. Having said that, sometimes officers bent the rules slightly and did. The same uniform was available as padded uniform in winter.

My comments, of course are related to the late eighties.

Dag, do you mean the black Panzerkombi? That is the one that I was referring to in my reply. Did you have one that looked like the one in that photo? An Arbeitsuniform in two parts?? I don't think I ever saw that one. Did officers have it as well?..I always thought that at the OHS we were given all of the uniforms that we would have had as an officer out with the troops??? Cheers, Torsten.

No, Torsten, I was referring to the picture at the beginning of the thread. I did wear this famous two-piece new tank uniform once during an exercise but we had to return it at the end. All your other comments are as I know it.
