      Thaelmannpioneer,

Here is a photo of the M-54 helmet in wear. Not sure if this is the helmet to which you making reference by a different name, but this photo should at least clarify whether the two are one and the same. It was primarily worn by the Barracks Police and was most often seen with the Polizei Starburst Decal on the helmet's left side. There are some very rare specimens with the Tri-color Shield Decal around. A member of the Forum who on rare occasion posts, I believe has three of these helmets - One with the single chin strap; one with the newer chin strap associated with M-56; and one with the Tri-color Shield Decal.

          Hi Thaelmannpioneer,

I have so many photos I sometimes lose track of where they all originate. I think it is from a book, but I failed to note the source and therefore cannot at this time tell you. For sure it is one that is out of print, otherwise I would have noted it, so I could give credit to the author.

About the Helmet. They are very expensive. I won a very nice looking one a few months ago on ebay for more money than I care to share with members on the forum. After sending payment, I never received it. So far, it is the first and only time a German Seller in Germany has taken money from me. Unfortnately, it was a lot of money. If I were in Germany when it happened, I would have gone to KRIPO and made a criminal complaint. I now try not to bid on anything from German Sellers I do not know, no matter how tempting the item, or how badly I need it for my collection.

another large KVP Photo from my Collection.

This one is quite special. It is original and it looks like someone tried to add some colour to it. But this was made by the photographer to colorize it.

It is interesting to see the attempt to put color in the photo...and you know what his collar tabs are...

                        Hi Ralph

Good question ..I thought "Meister der KVP" ....at least, that's what these shoulderboards stand for within the Volkspolizei.

Hey Andreas...The color depiction of the collar tabs could be KVP infantry. What makes it a bit difficult for me is that the shoulder boards do not appear to be fully colored in.
