earliest 5-Jahr Plan Aktivist Medal?

Ralph, I have once had another 1953 Aktivist award book, but these two for 1953 are the only ones that I have ever seen....I have had Aktivist award issue certificates from the 1960's onwards, so they certainly will have stopped issueing them by then...but when exactly they finished issueing them...I do not know...? The book is very nice and of course it starts off with a nice Stalin Speech... I am currently auctioning the booklet and the medal on ebay, which is where I have a couple more pics of the medal and the booklet than I posted here...have a look.. (ebay id german.militaria).

Marcus, thank you very much for introducing the books...I will get myself both books...well worth having them in my ever increasing German Military reference library (to date everything that I have got is WW2 and Third Reich and no reference books about the DDR.

Andreas, I still have not had the time to do the research on the FDGB, but my explanation in the previous thread was only a guess... maybe, I am right...??... in this context I would translate 'staatlich ab' as 'state issued from'.

the FDGB was founded 1946.

from the scan of post #20 I assume that the last medal of the
"Aktivist of the 5 year-plan" was 1959..the first one was the 1951.
I read the first 7 year-plan started 1960,so it makes sense that the last 5year-plan award was 1959.

Here are some pics of my Aktivist Award Booklet,its from 1954 and the person was a member of the FDGB since 1946..from the start of the FDGB.I think each awarded "Aktivist" got this book like a Urkunde for the medal.the earliest 5year-plan Award Booklet will be from 1951 and the latest from 1959.

I wonder why on the cover it says new member book..handed out 1954..but on the last page are a few stamps from 1953 and 1950

I have only ever had Aktivist Award Certificates, rather than these award books from the 1960's onwards, so it is well possible that the last books were published in 1959..?...would be great to own one book for each year to compare... btw, your FDGB membership book has a DSF and a Volkssolidaritaet due stamp fixed to the last page...???...that is a bit strange...Cheers, Torsten.
