As I have mentioned before, most of my collection is in boxes. Plus most of my stuff isn't very special or probably not of interest to most of you. I tend to collect some odd things.
Anyway while moving my stuff I took a quick picture withmy phone, so sorry for the quality.

It is a display piece I started to make a while ago, inclusive labels.

    Some highlights:
One (or both) of these medals is numbered as I recall. The right one hasn't got the emblem on the flag (and I believe the silver medal has "900" on the back).

And 2 pins I really like, though they are from before 1949:

I hope to be able to make more pictures sometime soon =)

Genosse Soviet! Your room is outstanding. That is exactly what I want to set up!

I used to live in Magdeburg with my girlfriend (East German native). When we moved in to our flat, as penniless students, we were given lots and lots of old DDR stuff, and when we moved out we gave it all away! MuFuTi, Russenfernseher... That flat was a real DDR treasure trove!

One day I will again have such a room!

              ---

My intention originally was to assemble the uniform of the Genosse Oberstleutnant Anton Grubitz (The Lives of Others).

              ... tja...

aside from that I now also own...

A virginal, unissued dark collar 1967 tunic. It still has the factory tag attached.

A 1971 dark collar Oberstleutnant tunic.

              A Strafvollzug Leutnant uniform.

              A Transportpolizei Obermeister uniform.

              A Strichtarn uniform with accessories.

              Two Reichsbahn uniforms.

              All of which fit me!

And for Mrs. Genosse, so as to show her the Überlegenheit of our socialist ways, I have (SK44) Zivilverteidigung and NVA-Wachregiment tunics.

And lots more little bits and pieces... and there's more to come!

Actually, Genosse Soviet, did you journey through Berlin, Haupstadt der DDR, around November/December 1989 with a cordless screwdriver, enthusiastically "liberating" the people's property?

Every piece you have looks like the real deal!

Unfortunately I was only 9 years old when the Wall came down, so I accumulated those collectibles over the past 10 years. I have picked few of them in Germany, but up to now Internet has been a great ressource.

Sorry I missed your earlier post. Thanks for taking the time to show us your collection of medals and badges. You do have a few early medals in collection. Is your silver faithful service "900" marked?

Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did. Quote - Sophie Scholl - White Rose resistance group

The new cornerstone of my DDR collection.
I got it off eBay for about 45 EUR (the badge and cord were missing, though, so the ones you see here are recent additions).

I hope you like it as much as I do!

                          new stuff

there has been new stuff coming in my "beginner" collection.

I have quite a lot of time this week because it's holidays at my work. Today I will start by the jackets and trousers, I have 2 new ones (winter + KG). More coming this week

I have a question about the one in the middle, it has a really small size tag and reinforcements on knees and back, is it common?

                            today is hat day

ok today I was playing with the "hat"section of my NVA collection. It's really common stuff (and I'm happy with it), really cheap to collec (it's impossible to compare with the stuff from ww2 that I was collecting when I was a kid, with trillions of copies and crazy prices).

I have a few questions about dating some items. As far as I know :

                            Winter hat : T=1985
                            Visor hat : Y=1988
                            Mütze : G=1981
                            Helmet : ?, 80's?
Felmütze KG : ???, no clue.

                            Thanks for your help

KG Mutze is II/L. Which means it's either 1973, or 1987.
The helmet is the latest version (no outer rivets). The date could perhaps be read at one of the sides of the helmet (about where the chinstrap 'begins').
