Just got this today. I tell you, these badges could be easily reproduced and I'm not absolutely sure of the authenticity- but I was afraid not to take advantage of this. It was sold to me as a speculative piece- a design proposal (muster). Having been in that business before, I know this is not unusual. Also, I just plain liked it.

The other piece I received today. The 20th Anniversary of the Kampfgruppen- very hard to get (don't know why; it's only an anniversary medal). Original cream-coloured case.

One last medal before I call it a day, the Medaille für die Teilnahme an der bewaffneten Kämpfen der deutschen Arbeiterklasse, 1918-1923. The plastic case is not original. Will post more in the future. Hope I haven't bored anyone to tears.

Hello Greg - Thanks for posting some of your medal and badge collection. Your XX year medal in post 570 through 572 have my curiosity peaked. The XX year anniversary of the DDR was a big event and now seeing this medal has me wondering how many of these medals were made and who got them.

You also make some good points about your XXX anniversary badge in post 584. It for sure is very nice and as long as you like that is all that counts.

Every once in awhile an item will catch my eye, even if it's not in the traditional line-up as something important. This happened to me in a very big way when I spotted a Master of Combined (Farming) Operations badge (USSR) a couple of years ago. No one knew anything about it; decided I wanted it because I liked it; turns out only 5,000 were made and mine is in the comfortable middle. I paid $47 USD. Worth a whole lot more than that now... Gotta listen to your instincts.

                      Very nice Fauli!

I'm still looking for one like this since a long time. Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to find any of these complete with the early KG badge.

today i got 3 very nice surprises from my dad. in the last days he cleared up in the attic and found three very nice pictures (we call it Rollbild) that where used in school. They show the NVA Luftstreitkräfte, Landstreitkräfte and Marine, all of the people are wearing early 1950s/60s uniforms and accesoirs.
These pictures have been stored for about 3 years just one room above mine, and i didn't know they existed.

now i just need the space to present them

                        fauli
I am confused about the Landstreitkräfte painting. The fellow on the left receiving the dispatch appears to be a first sergeant (sorry I don't know the correct German rank name) due to the tress on the sleeves, yet he is wearing a regular EM black belt and what appear to be short EM boots. Please educate me.
                        Best Regards,
                        Robert

                          Fauli,

If memory serves me right, these prints were produced to show/ depict the various new East German uniforms at the outset of 1956. If this is correct, then the regulations that later would permit Der Spiess to wear officer insignia on the visor hat, and officer gabardine tunic and pants, along with the brown belt, had not yet come into being. Der Spiess at this very early juncture, just wore the warrant officer cuff bands. Their uniforms remained of the enlisted wool type.

I still have other walls to fill up with DDR and Soviet stuff.
