Soviet, very nice... what is the steel helmet next to the Lenin head? Cheers, Torsten.

Nice collection. I noted you have several "Berlin" pieces which serve nicely to bring the Soviet and DDR pieces together.

Thank you guys for your comments. I'm happy that my girlfriend let me display all those things in our appartment.

Torsten, the steel helmet next to the Lenin head is a Soviet Ssh-36 helmet. These were made by the Soviet army until 1939, when they introduce the Ssh-39 helmet in 1939. These Ssh-36 helmet where also used during WWII by the Soviet army beside the other models they introduced.

          What a fantastic collection Soviet.

I like the enamelled signs .Makes it different from the usual medals and stuff.

Your display is well done!!! You have for sure brought out the Cold War set up.

The framed DDR flag...Is it a flag or poster?

It's a flag. I bought it few years ago at Rosa-Luxemburg Platz in Berlin in front of the Volksbühne. There is a PDS office out there with a small book store and a DDR store (you can find brand from the DDR times and some groceries). Well that's in this shop that I have bought the DDR flag & I bought the KPD election posters replica at the book store at the same time. (1 DM = 1 poster, that was cheap)

Thanks for the reply. Real or replica, your posters set the your Cold War tone.

This is my best DDR piece. The VoPo Ehrenabzeichen of Willi Stoph.

beautiful... did you buy it from Carsten Zeige? I think it was him who had the Willy Stoph estate up for sale some years ago??...Cheers, Torsten.

It was indeed Zeige who had the Stoph estate. I bought this piece from the man ho bought it at Zeige. This man has a large collection of medals and documents of NVA generals and some other Stoph stuff.

A few months ago I bought a copy of Der Spiegel from 1959. On the cover is Stoph wearing this medal.

I did get the Zeige sales catalogue of the Stoph auction and it was extremely intersting reading/looking, but the prices were way out of my reach... Cheers, Torsten.

Here is a photo of just what camo uniforms and field gear I have. It is kinda sorted by early to late. I will have to get a photo of my wool uniforms and helmets.
