Ok to learn more about these awards, I was requested to ask more than : "What are these orders?"

So I will make it tougher !

(1.) After naming all 4 awards, (2.) please tell me who did receive the 1st and 2nd award (top) and for what were they awarded.

(3.) What represent the coat of arms with the 5 torches on the last award (4th)..

Hope it is hard enough for DDR specialist.

It is indeed a "Cold war in Europe" trivia and not only on the DDR !

    Good luck !

By the way, Christophe if nobody answers the name of the orders you will have to answer yourself !

very clever...;-))...I now think that they are all Yugoslav...the top left is the Order of the Partisan Star with silver or gold Wreath and I guess it was awarded to Partisan leaders?...the top right one is the Order of the Partisan Star and I guess that one was awarded to members of the armed Partisan resistance...the bottom right one is Order of Brotherhood and Unity with Gold Wreath (and the five flames are for the five nations that made up Yugoslavia, i.e. Serbia, Croatia, etc.) and the bottom left one may be the Order of the National Merit with Gold Star??? but I am not sure about the last one??, but what the bottom two were awarded for, I have no idea...and thank you very much for posting these beautiful awards, the Yugoslavs really had some nice ones that I have not been aware of before this..

      Cheers, Torsten.

The 4 Awards are from Yugoslavia and are as follows:

        1. Order of the Partisan Star - 2nd Class: Awarded to commanders of Partisan Units for Leadership and bravery

        2. Order of the Partisan Star - 3rd Class: Awarded to lower ranking leaders (squad, team, etc) and individual members of partisan units. Also awarded for bravery and leadership.

        3. 1941 Partisan Commemorative Award. Awarded to all partisans who were active in the resistience during 1941.

        4. Order of Brotherhood - 2nd Class: Awarded for individuals and organizations for the creation and spreading of brotherhood and unity. The five torches represents the 5 Republics that made up the former Yugoslavia (Macedonia, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia).

Torsten you are almost there. Yes they are all Yugoslavian. You did a good research.

Here is my input to what as been answered yet.

#1 Order of Partisan Star 2nd class (with the silver laurel wreath) --> gold is for the first class

#2 Order of Partisan Star 3rd Class (with the rifles)
          <!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->

Awarded in three classes : gold edged and set on a gold laurel wreath for the first class, silver edged on a gold wreath for the second class and silver edged without a wreath but superimposed on crossed rifles for the third class, this decoration was instituted on 15 August 1943. It was awarded to partisans who had shown exceptional leadership and bravery in the war.

I don't know which class was awarded to Partisan leaders or Partisan resistance, but I was only looking for beeing awarded for "exceptional leadership and bravery in the war".

          Partisan leaders Partisan resistance

#4 Is the Order of Brotherhood and Unity

          Which class please ?

The five torches do represent the five torches represent the five Yugoslav nations :
Serbs, Croats there are 3 remaning to name.

However a 6th one was recognized in 1974. Who are they ?

          #3 Is wrong.

                  No.

                  However you won John.

The coat of arms for the new state was devised by the artist Đorđe Andrejević-Kun, from <st1:city w:st="on"><st1 ="">Belgrade</st1></st1:city> around 1943. The coat of arms was officially adopted only in the 1946 Constitution, with a slightly different artistic representation. The five torches represent the five Yugoslav nations (Serbs, Croats, Slovenes, Montenegrins and Macedonians; the [Bosnian] Muslims were recognized as the nation only in 1974 while the number of torches was increased to represent the number of Republics in 1963) and they burn by the joint flame of the Federation.<o =""></o>
                  John you are next.

Hey Bryan...I find the description of the five torches representing the five different nations very interesting. For sure something I will remember.

                        Thanks,

I meant to say that the six torch was added to represent Bosnia. I will have to think of a good question to ask. I was going to ask an Order of Battle question but since thier is a former 96B that visits this forum from time to time I will have to dig deeper. I wil post a good question within 24 hrs.

John, well done...maybe my guesses will be a little closer to the mark on your questions??.... Cheers, Torsten.

Soviet, do you own the four awardes you first posted? Cheers, Torsten.

Torsten, I only own one of them (see my avatar) but I am willing to buy the 3 other one. The only problem is to find the Partisan Star 2nd class which I can't find for sale.

I just wanted to add that the "Partisan Commemorative Medal 1941" was instituted on 14 September 1944 for award to those actively involved in partisan or political units between 1941 and the end of WW2. By the end of its awarding period (end 1963) 27,629 medals had been awarded.

My question was aiming more at the availability of these awards, but I guess your answer explained it... Cheers, Torsten.

The Order of the partisan Star – 3rd class can be found with some frequency on eBay. There was approximately 10,300 issued but a lot of un-issued ones found their way to market after the break-up of Yugoslavia. The 2nd class periodically shows up on eBay but there were only approximately 1,500+ issued. The 1st class is the most elusive and difficult at best to find with only approximately 600+ being awarded.
