GDR Type 1 AK-47 Bayonet - No Serial Number ??

Hello

I recently acquired a GDR type 1 AK47 bayonet.

The bayonet has no markings and lacks a serial number. It does have a web frog which has under the snap button maker mark.

Does NOT having a serial number infer this bayonet has been not issued ?

Can anyone shed any light to the reason why there is no serial number ??

Hi there,

like this? The AK Bayonette of the GDR was available with and without a number. Is alo completely ok so. The detachment is on the hinge under the handle scales. Numbers were often also removed during overhauls.

Yes my GDR bayonet looks similar to the one you posted pictures of.

It appears not to have ever had a serial number as I cannot see any abrasion etc where serial numbers were removed.

I don't think there are GDR fakes, but I was a little concerned as there wasn't any serial numbers, etc. WilloW
