    Identification of Overseas Cap

I need a little help here. This cap was in a collection I bought in August of 2017, and I can’t ID it. It looks Eastern European to me, but my knowledge is mostly in twentieth century US, WWII German and WWII Japanese. I have shown the only markings in the cap. “54” in a box looks to be the size, but I have no idea what the “23” in a box represents.

    Any information would be appreciated.

So called GST or Gesellschaft für Sport und Technik.
The East German pre-military Education, conceiled as "Sports".
They teached everything you needed as a Soldier, from Driving, Hand Greande Throwing, Shooting, Diving, Para and lots more.

Thank you, Nico. I appreciate the help.

Would this cap be for males, females or unisex?

Think to remember that's an Unisex Cap.
Also a Later one, earlier Caps had open "Earflaps" here they're sewn completely.
From the Pics I would date it into the 1980's.
When you search for GST, you should find loads of pics.
I also sell some Books on the History of the GST, sadly written in German but still issued in the DDR, so no later Collectors or Historian's Phantasy.

Thank you for the additional information. Looks like the DDR version of the HJ.
