New Addition - Order of the Red Star

    Hi guys,

Wanted to show off my first foray into Russian medals, a nice Order of the Red Star from mid 1943. I really like the worn look to my medals and awards and I think this one fits the bill nicely. Nice and heavy, solid badge with some great wear and patina to it. I am currently researching the serial number and will be sure to post the information when I have it compiled.

Would like to think Eric and Marcel for helping me out with this one, I really appreciate the help guys.

Hope you like it as much as I do.

    Tom

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Nice one, Tom. These Soviet awards are really nice and the fact that so many can be researched and are attributable is a huge plus. Be careful, though, as it’s always tough to open another sub-category of collecting interest!!

        first foray...

For a first foray you have done well. If I'm not mistaken there is a good possibility that it was awarded for Leningrad or Stalingrad with that serial number.

Super nice Tom! Took me years to get a screwpost base RS.
            Thanks,

                  Hi Tom

Maybe for once I can offer something back to you for the help on German badges.

The two closest awards I have recorded are one in the 132k series for April 1943 and one in in the early 150k that is for November 1942. Likely date is Spring 1943 as the 1942 one is a little bit out of sequence but as I am sure you already know with these until the research arrives you just never know.

They can be very addictive as the stories are so varied. I have had from T34 commander, to cook, from railway builder, to commissar thrice wounded, from Li2 pilot to artillery spotter, hopefully this one provides you a spark to pick up a few more.

                  Kind regards
                  Steve
