I can't read the serial number but it looks generally good to me.
Replaced ribbon and possible replacement of 2 piece suspension, which is quite normal.
Thanks very much for the response. I also cannot read the number and the seller cannot take better pics, but I believe the number is 558223 or something similar.
Is there a way to tell the ribbon and suspension are replacements? The suspension look doesn't look cut to me, but might not be seeing all of it in the pics.
Thanks for the information.
Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
New Book - The German Close Combat Clasp of World War II
That suspension may be original. I forget the specifics of those two piece suspensions. Now if the ring connecting the suspension and the medal has been cut then...
And the serial number makes it a (probably) Spring 1945 award.
Pics are quite bad. The serial # is not readable, the connecting ring is not completely visible. As Eric says, if the ring is cut than the suspension is most likely a replacement.
Ribbon looks new but let's be honest, the majority of OGIII offered nowadays have replaced (or very good condition) ribbons. I rarely see well worn ribbons on these orders.
Furthermore it is not really clear if the enamel is replaced on the star above the tower.
So before buying I would ask for better pics. These orders are available a lot for good prices (with this range of serial #). So no need to buy from a seller who doesn't wanna give better pics.
