    SSh-40 helmet color

    Hello,

I'd like to repaint some WW2 russian SSh-40 helmet shells.

Can you someone tell me WW2 color code for painting?

I've original color helmets with brown-green and light green paint. That's good colors?

I've found paint on the 1944militaria.com, but the color I think is not good.

    Thanks, Taszi

My question: why to repaint original helmets? Value only goes down....plus, imo it is ruining original pieces.

Because full of rust, holes, 0% paint on it. I sandblasted the shell, and I'd like to repaint. That's my decision.
Or do you think is better if the rust eats the helmet? (It's not a solution either.)

In my opinion, and that is just MY opinion, relic helmets treated with some anti-rust treatment to stop from completely disintegrating look much, much better than rusty shells being sandblasted and repainted. It will never get back to its former glory by adding new paint. It can however keep this old 'been there' look by preserving what is left.

Edit: but as you said, it is your hlmet. You can do with it whatever you want
