    WW2 Soviet flag?

Hello, I recently acquired this hand made Soviet flag from a person in Canada and I'm not quite sure what to think about it. I've attached some photos showing the flag in as much detail as possible. In real life the flag is a pale-ish red color even though it almost looks pink in the photos. The flag passes the UV test although that doesn't mean much. One thing I noticed was the strengthened unhemmed edge present on the top of the flag which can be seen in the photos.

    I'm stumped.
Doesn't look like a regular production item, but I'm not much of a cloth guy.
We do have a couple flag guys here so wait and see what they say.
    Thanks,
    Eric Gaumann

I'm getting a Vietnam war vibe from it, maybe even the Korean war? It's very roughly made.
My guess would be those two conflicts or a complete fantasy piece.
          I really don't know.
Any possibility of contacting the seller and seeing if there is a back story to it?

          Regard,

The reason why I was thinking WW2 was because it came from Montreal, and assuming it was a bring back by a Canadian soldier then Vietnam wouldn't make sense and North Korean flags tended to be made of silk so that only leaves WW2. Of course that isn't the only explaination but that's what seemed to be the most likey to me. So far at least the guy I bought it from has been fairly unhelpful, although I should point out he sold it as a handmade Soviet flag and nothing more. I don't think it's a fantasy piece because he sold it for cheap (around $30 including shipping) and the flag is made out of a fairly old thin cotton. I should also point out that the flag has 4 pin holes (one on each corner) as well as water stains and some light mold.

            Thanks for the replies!

Without solid provenance these are impossible to date and it is, and will always be up to the buyer to believe in these being real wartime. Myself I wouldn't want it without any provenance.
